Mediation / Arbitration

Mr. Knight’s rate is $285 per hour for both Mediations and Arbitrations. This amount is typically split between the parties. The parties will be billed at the end of the process.

If a party is pro se, a retainer is required before the mediation. This retainer reflects a full eight hour day plus 4 hours of preparation time. Any funds not expended will be returned to the parties within 5 business days of the conclusion of the process.

Currently there are special rates for homeowner disputes involving a veteran of Iraq or Afghanistan.

No fee is charged for travel within one hour of Mr. Knight’s office. Mr. Knight only charges 1/2 of travel time to the areas around Port Angeles. All other travel arrangements will be on a case-by-case basis.

Mr. Knight served as an arbitrator on a construction case. All parties appreciated his willingness to accommodated a very difficult schedule with tight time lines and to conduct the arbitration at the project site. His background and construction knowledge allowed him to quickly understand the information presented and to ask very poignant questions.
